Arizona Early Intervention Program

Early help, in your home.

AzEIP supports children birth to 3 who are showing signs of developmental delay. We come to you. Same couch, same toys, same routines your child already knows. For qualifying families the program is at no cost.

AzEIP is Arizona’s early intervention program for children from birth through age three who qualify based on developmental concerns. For families who qualify, services are provided at no cost through the program.

Because early intervention works best in the places a child already lives their life, we come to you. That means we work on the floor of your living room, at the kitchen table, at the park, during bath time. Your child learns where they already feel safe, and you learn strategies you can keep using after we leave.

What to expect

You will be matched with a therapist (or a team of therapists, depending on your child’s needs) who comes to your home on a regular schedule. Sessions are typically weekly. Early intervention is not just about what the therapist does during the visit. A big part of the work is coaching parents and caregivers so the learning continues between sessions.

How to get started

If you suspect a delay, you can self-refer to AzEIP directly through the state, or your pediatrician can refer you. Once AzEIP has determined eligibility, you can request Arizona Speech Pathology as your provider. We’ll take it from there.

  • Speech therapy for early communication and feeding
  • Occupational therapy for sensory, motor, and self-regulation
  • Physical therapy for gross motor and mobility
  • Coaching built around your real daily routines

DDD · Ages 3 and up

Steady support through DDD.

If your child qualifies for DDD, we are an approved provider. We see DDD clients in our Tempe and Peoria offices and, in some cases, at home or in community settings.

The Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) serves Arizonans with developmental disabilities from age three onward. For many families, DDD is the pathway that picks up where AzEIP leaves off at age three.

A smooth transition

One of the hardest moments parents tell us about is the transition out of AzEIP. Suddenly you are navigating a new agency, new paperwork, a new set of rules. Because we serve both programs, your child can stay with the same practice (and often the same therapist) through the transition. That continuity matters.

What we offer

Speech, occupational, and physical therapy at our Tempe and Peoria offices. Depending on your authorization and your child’s needs, we may also see DDD clients at home, at school, or in community settings. Your DDD support coordinator is our partner throughout.

  • Speech, occupational, and physical therapy
  • Coordination with your support coordinator
  • Continuity after aging out of AzEIP

Private & Insurance

Care that fits your family.

For families paying privately or through insurance, we offer the same clinical team without a referral hurdle. Good for families who want to start before a formal diagnosis, or who do not qualify for state programs.

Not every family goes through AzEIP or DDD, and not every family needs to. If you are concerned about a delay and want to start therapy right away, or if your child does not qualify for state programs, private and insurance-covered therapy is often the fastest way in.

No referral hurdle

You do not need a formal diagnosis to schedule an evaluation with us. If you are noticing something and want a professional opinion, call us.

Insurance and payment

We accept self-pay and most major insurance plans. If you would like us to verify coverage before your first visit, we are happy to do that. The insurance list on our contact page is current, but call us if you have questions about a specific plan.

Where sessions happen

Private and insurance-based therapy happens at our Tempe or Peoria offices, depending on which is closer to you. We serve the greater Phoenix metropolitan area.

  • In-office sessions in Tempe or Peoria
  • Self-pay and most major insurance accepted
  • Evaluations available without a prior diagnosis
